BUSINESS CHALLENGE
This qualification recognises the skills and knowledge expected of people who are, or are seeking to be first line managers (team leaders, supervisors, or charge hands). Holders of this qualification are likely to be responsible for managing people, resources, and/or work operations.
National Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) leads on from the National Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 3). It may lead on to further qualifications in the business field such as the National Diploma in Business (Level 5), or other qualifications in business administration, small business management, or Maori business and management.
TARGET AUDIENCE
It is acknowledged that many people may already have the competence in the outcomes specified in individual standards. Those people are able to seek recognition of current competency (RCC) through NZIM (an accredited provider).
The National Certificate in Business – Level 4 is linked directly with the NZIM team leader workshop series and aims at providing leaders of front line teams, the necessary skills and tools to effectively lead staff to quality performance. It is recommended that Team Leader – Essential Skills be completed first.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The workshops are delivered by means of facilitator-led discussion, visual media and group exercises. Anecdotes from real life illustrate the application of the tools and techniques. Application back in the workplace can also be measured by completing the required assessments and gaining unit standards credits toward the National Certificate in Business.
