BUSINESS CHALLENGE

An estimated 70% of performance problems can be linked to recruitment issues. Therefore recruitment, selection and retention play a major part in the ability of an organisation to achieve its goals.
The Recruitment and Selection programme combines a review of the process and documentation with an overview of the relevant employment legislation, as well as the development of skills and knowledge for recruiting and selecting staff. The two day course is an essential starting point for effective people management and contributes to all aspects of human resource management.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

- Develop appropriate assessment tools and methods
- Define performance standards and expectations
- Determine processes to support and develop staff after their induction.
- Effectively induct a new employee into your organisation
- Analyse the cost of recruitment (internally or externally through an agency)
- Prepare advertisements that attract potential candidates
- Use weighted selection criteria for short-lists and interviews
- Develop active selection processes
- Conduct interviews that are fair and consistent using behavioural based questioning
- Demonstrate effective panel management
- Describe how to avoid interview bias and be an advocate for the organisation
- Undertake and Elicit useful information from reference and referee checks
- Present an organisation in a way that captures a new staff member’s imagination and gets buy-in to the values and business culture
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
Recruitment and Selection is a practical, interactive workshop providing direct application to the participant's workplace. Participants will take away useful tools and techniques for improving Recruitment and Selection in their workplace.
